Horizon Shipbuilding, Inc. is located on the southwestern coast of Alabama about 30 miles from the port of Mobile. We design and construct and repair ships, boats, and barges up to 300' in length and 1500 tons launch weight. Our target and proven customer base includes the offshore oil industry, cruise and diving industry, tug and barge operators, and specialized craft for the United States and foreign governments (please see a detailed partial listing at the "Customer List/Past Performance" tab). Experience and Commitment

Horizon was founded in 1997 by a father-and-son team who bring to our projects more than 50 years combined experience in ship design, construction, operation, maintenance and repair. This broad-based experience has facilitated the design of vessels that are crew-friendly and easy to operate and maintain. Horizon's guiding principles are based on the belief that satisfied customers are the best advertisement, and this philosophy has been proven true by the many expressions of satisfaction from Horizon's customers over the past years. Our entire management team and crew are committed to the continuation of these principles, which continue to provide the foundation for the production of quality vessels for the United States and world markets.

Location and Accessibility

The shipyard is located on an 18' dredged inlet off Mississippi Sound and the Intercoastal Waterway and is adjacent to Mobile Bay and the Gulf of Mexico. Easily accessible by water, Bayou La Batre is located approximately 30 miles south of Mobile, which is served by a regional airport, heavy shipping (Alabama State Docks), and rail (Amtrak and CSX). Exit 10 from Interstate 10 provides easy road access, as does U. S. Highway 90, and "the Bayou" is located directly on AL Route 188. These air, sea, and land transportation links coupled with an extremely moderate climate make Horizon highly accessible throughout the year. This situation readily facilitates rapid materials acquisition and resupply and, coupled with a good skilled labor supply, Horizon is able, if necessary, to offer round-the-clock and round-the-calendar production efforts.
