Horizon Shipbuilding delivers seventh 140-foot towboat to Florida Marine Transporters
Horizon Shipbuilding Inc. has delivered its seventh 140-foot towboat for Florida Marine Transporters, the M/V Capt. Phillip Box.
The vessel, named for FMT’s longtime captain, was designed by John Gilbert and was launched in April at Horizon’s Bayou La Batre facility.
The towboat measures 140 feet in length and 42 feet in width, with a 9-foot, 6-inch draft.
In addition, Horizon and FMT will continue their more than seven-year partnership with a new 80-foot towboat scheduled to enter the market in September.
Horizon operates two shipyards in Bayou La Batre, with 400 full-time employees. The company manufactures steel, fiberglass and aluminum vessels for the U.S. government and private marine companies.
